Chili's Teaches Graduate Classes in Bacon.
….baby back, baby back, baby back. I want my baby back, baby back, baby back. I want my baby back, baby back, baby back. I wan’t my baby back, baby back, baby back. CHILI’s baby back ribs. What ever happened to that commercial? I never ate ribs ate Chili’s, but it was a damn fine commercial, and Chili’s is really in the upper echelon of mid-level chains. The Mexican theme? Cute, but doesn’t really interest me. Chili’s dominates because,
1. Good On-Tap Beer Option. This is one of the problems with Outback. Fosters and the other slop they have on draft just doesn’t cut it. Chili’s is always good for a Sam Adams. They serve it in a 23 oz. glass as well, but it’s a Pilsner glass and you don’t feel like an idiot grappling with a giant plastic mug.
2. Good Apetizer Option. Unlimited Chips and Salsa. There it is. I’m not going to slowly draw it out. I’ll just slap you in the face with it. Best deal going, but you have to get a little pushy with the waiter. Don’t let him slow play you. Hey Chiefy, need a salsa re-load on table seven.
3. New Bacon Technology. Chili’s must have a huge R&D budget, because what they’ve done with the smokehouse style bacon is pretty revolutionary for a chain restaurant. Ever been to some country-ass diner and you order some bacon, and you get a slab of pig, and maybe it doesn’t particularly look like bacon, but it’s delicious? Well, Chili’s has come up with a similar theory. People that like bacon will like giant slabs of bacon even more. Thus, the smokehouse burger is born, and eaters around the World go home happy.
how are their burgers in general? ruby tuesday makes a good burger.
i just dusted off NES Open and played for the first time since…’99? not sure. maybe there was a round or two somewhere between then and now. went 30/32, on the U.S. Course, bogeying the Par 3 16 after shorting a 1-iron into the drink. took me until hole 17 to get a “super shot.” U.K. Course is up next.
I am so jealous right now I want to start breaking stuff. Sixty-two is pretty good. I don’t want to be the guy that tells you how to play…but ditch the one-iron. Sixteen is just a great hole in that game. I think the U.K. has more vulnerable par 5s if I remember correctly.
Chili’s makes a good burger. I agree about Ruby Tuesday. It’d be a tough call. This Chili’s burger, though is a real bacon explosion.
don’t be too jealous, my NES just spontaneously reset on hole 5. I was 1 under through 4 after bogeying the first (sliced the drive into the woods, hit the second shot off a trunk).
i’ll consider ditching the 1-iron.
i haven’t had a good bacon burger in a while. i always get sucked into a mushroom swiss, which i do enjoy.
have 5 Guys burgers made it up your way yet? i think it’s overrated, but still good. and free in-shell peanuts is always a good touch. if you do, give the A-1 sauce, mushrooms, grilled onions a try.
Yeah we have 5 Guys. They’re good. Bacon too thin and too crispy in my opinion. Don’t do mushrooms on anything unfortunately.
1-under through 4 is an automatic reset anyway.
I’m not getting on board with the disparagement of Outback. The Bloomin Onion is the greatest, fattest, more delicious thing you can ever put in your mouth. Couple that with the ridiculous bread they have, the aggressive options that you can top onto any meal (king crab legs with your burger for an extra $5 spot? Sure, let’s class it up a bit) and the fries and i think it’s a winner. Solid burger, although the bacon isn’t mind blowing, their “shrooms” are ridiculous.
TGI Friday’s gets an F for their food, but their “help” always seems to be willing to get involved and they’re semi attractive. It’s kind of like a strip club in that sense, they serve food but you wouldn’t want to eat there, you’re really there to see if “Ultimate Margarita” is the way to your waitress’ heart. Or pants, same thing.
Great burger by the way at BLT Burger. The kobe beef burger with bacon is just aggressive. Love it.
Applebee’s is a total fail by the way, they should just open an all you can eat buffet and end their misery.
I’m at about 3-4 consecutive trips to Outback with bad experiences. I used to love it, and yes, the bread is amazing. I’d disagree on the fries, but they’ve botched my order, service has been terrible, can’t cook a steak to temperature….and the beer.
You cannot go wrong with the Bloomin though. These chains are hit and miss, like the Chili’s by me could be awful and we’d never know there’s a good one out there. I’m not a huge beer guy, so i guess i don’t stress about what’s on tap. Although i could’ve sworn the Outback in NYC had either sam seasonal or Blue Moon/IPO on tap.
I suppose the chains are a risky endeavor (kind of contradictory to the point of a chain, no?)…but right now for me Chili’s is Zack Grienke and Outback is Wang.
I think you’re overrating Wang. He’s more Kennedy Fried Chicken, a fried chicken fast food chain trying to capitalize on the KFC branding letters.
